Boontling Cabin

Western Red Cedar and Old Growth Redwood

I was commissioned to build a 200 sq. ft. hunting cabin in Northern California in the Summer of 2018. During my time there, I became interested in the local and nearly extinct language of Boontling. This was the language spoken by the earliest white settlers of Anderson Valley and now only spoken by roughly 100 people on earth. The cabin is a dedication to the language and character of the Northern California area. Deep in the redwood forest and nestled on a steep slope, this project was extremely difficult, but the awe inspiring views made it all worth it. All lumber was sourced from sustainable local saw mills. Reclaimed lumber was used for the interior space.
